Where are clicks on ads registered in Google Analytics when AdWords is not linked

Hi, guys!

I had a period when Google AdWords was not linked to Analytics and I had several ads running during this time. Right now, there is no Paid section in Acquisition Channels in Analytics. But there were clicks from ads to the website.

Where were these clicks registered in Analytics? Are they in Direct or Referrals?

Thanks!

Hi,

If auto-tagging was switched on, Google Analytics automatically tagged the Source/Medium of your AdWords ads as "google/cpc".

Here you'll find a table that outlines the different scenarios that could occur under these circumstances: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034316?hl=en&ref_topic=1042504

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Taavi
