Tracking analytics goals with GTM events

Hi there,

I have a Google Tagged event set up that triggers events in real-time in GA, but doesn't register as a goal conversion. Any ideas? I know this might be a little vague so please let me know what else you need to help me out.

Thanks!

John

Hi @john l,

Did you set up an actual Analytics Goal (Type: Event Goal) to capture the event as a Goal?

Check out Event goals here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1032415?hl=en

You will basically set up the event details (these need to match exactly) and then you will start to see your events appear in your goal reporting.

Now, there is a possibility that you've already done this and I'm way off track.  My apologies ahead of time if this is the case.  Smiley Happy

Thanks for the reply, Tommy.

This is what I have.

GA tracks the click as an event, but I can't see it in conversions

Thanks for your help!

Looks good to me, your use of variables in GTM is standard and the goal setup looks fine to me too.

Tough to say really.  If your event info in GA is capturing in real time and is correct, that should eliminate any issues with GTM, I would take that as your tags are fine and the events are firing as expected.

Now, the question would be...is anything happening to the parameters as they are being passed? In the events that are being captured in GA, are the categories and actions exact? (even check for extra/trailing spaces in your configs - (maybe test with no spaces) this might be a stretch but it might be worth looking at). This feels like it's one of those little things.

Wish I had more to offer you...looks pretty good from here.
