Loosing AdWords as Source on my Subdomain

Hi, our main page is www.innsbruck.info. The Checkout happens at booking.innsbruck.info

So the advertised page is for example http://www.innsbruck.info/en/innsbruck-city/packages/winter/olympia-skiworld.html . After you clicked on "book now" the checkout starts  at booking.insbruck.info. When a conversion happens at booking.innsbruck.info we never see AdWords as a Source?!

thx 4your Help

Hi there.
You need to have the conversion tracking and the GA code on both sites and you'll need to add your own domain to the referral exclusion list.

Hi,

so, you see www.innsbruck.com as source of your booking conversions instead? If so, your sub-domain tracking isn't working as it should.

I checked your set up with Google Tag Assistant recordings - there are at least no obvious issues that should prevent sub-domain tracking from working:

    • You use Universal Analytics - so sub-domain tracking is enabled automatically
    • No need for cross-domain tracking at this point
    • You use GTM on www host
    • Both pages fire into the same view, UA-8388867-1

Maybe there are some side effects and you should try homogenize your set-up a bit:

  • Use GTM for both www & booking hosts (booking uses Analytics directly)
  • Use Display-Features enablement on both www & booking
  • If not done yet, exclude your domain in Admin > Tracking Info > Referrer Exclusion list

HI there. In most cases this problem is occured because of invalid server redirect setup. Be sure that u're forwarding URL parameters.

Hi Wolfgang,

so your process is a bit more complex than the usual booking process though nothing that serious.
1. You start with http and then go to https - eventually if you back to http there could be some issues with referrer info
2. Your booking process contains an additional domain https://web4.deskline.net/innsbruck/de/bookingprocess/enterdata?customHeader=true&AspxAutoDetectCook... (which should also be added to referral exclusion)
3. CID seems to be preserved throughout the session (did not buy anything so I do not know how it acts on the last stepSmiley Happy)

Some questions:
1. Do you have any data from adwords - sessions?
2. If AdWords is not attributed with sales which source / medium is attributed with sales?
3. Can you see adwords in the MCF reports (Top conversion paths)?

Kind regards,

@Zorin Escape Where exactly do you see that deskline.net domain? I don't see any redirect between the www page and the booking page.

Hi Christoph - it is further down the funnel. There are some other things to notice - iframe on the booking page and so on - numerous places where issues can occur.
