Google Analytics reporting AdWords / Google CPC traffic for paused campaign 72 hours later

I have a few Google AdWords campaigns running in parallel, namely:

- Four Search / Display network campaigns,

- One Google Shopping Campaign, and

- One AdWords Express campaign

Last Thursday, May 25 I paused all six campaigns and have been monitoring traffic since.

Even though Google AdWords reports no clicks or expense on any of the campaigns, I'm still getting a lot of traffic being reported for Google / CPC in Analytics.

When analysing the data specifically via Acquisition > Campaigns > All Campaigns, I see mention of my paused campaigns specifically accounting for transactions and sessions.

How can this be the case if these campaigns have been paused for a number of days already?

This makes analysing this information as well as the efficacy of the campaigns a lot more difficult.

Hi @Matthew B,

I've definitely encountered this too.  There are a few examples of why this can happen in this article.    The first few are probably relevant to you but specifically, I would check out:

Why do I see sessions coming from an old (paused or deleted) AdWords campaign?

Why would I see new sessions for an old or paused AdWords campaign in Analytics?
