GCLID being stripped - can't see why

Hi,

I am trying to find what might be stripping the GLCID from my URLs on Google Shopping, auto tagging is enabled, there is no re-direct.

My adwords URLs are working fine, the URLs are pointing at my category pages, but the GCLIDS are being stripped, and these URLs are my product pages.

Any thoughts pointers?  Many thanks

99% sure its the SEO module you have enabled in Magento.

It is happening at your server - perhaps your click fraud service or some other configuration.  On certain urls, your server is issuing a 301 redirect and wipes out the query string (observed using developer tools plugin).

Try this

http://www.plasticdrainage.co.uk/soil-and-waste-systems?foo=bar

Notice, no redirects.  So its not the server.

Now try this:

http://www.plasticdrainage.co.uk/1-14-x-1-14-straight-flexible-coupler/

Notice it redirects to .html?  It's a 404, but the 301 redirect definitely happens.

Now try:

http://www.plasticdrainage.co.uk/1-14-x-1-14-straight-flexible-coupler-7931.html?foo=bar

Notice the query string disappears?  Again, look under the covers and its a 301 redirect -- the page appears as normal.

You need to check your shopping cart software :-(

Hi

So it is server issue? or Magento issue? As it seems to imply it could be either?

I will start investigating both

Hi Phillip

You are 100% correct, I installed the website locally yesterday and ran more tests, lined the bottles up on the wall and knocked them off one by one. It was a setting in the SEO module.

Such is life?!?! Smiley Happy

Many thanks for your help

Hi Phillip,

Just coming back to this as I re-read what you said and something I didn't notice before.

You mentioned 'Click Fraud' I didn't realise we had any, so if I disable that as well I might find the permanent answer.

I disabled from SEO module the 'Enable Canonical Product Redirecting' ( next I am going to disable the module completely) as I think that was causing alot, but the tracking is still not working correctly, and before looking at what might be happening in the checkout I thought I would find out what you meant about the 'Click Fraud' ?
