Finding Adwords placement data in Analytics without using Auto-Tagging

Hello, looking to see if it is possible to get Adwords placement data in Google Analytics through manual tagging.

With our campaigns, it is necessary for us to use UTM codes for Source/Medium since we report using those parameters, which is easily viewable in our client's Google Analytics also when they want to reference our traffic.

When Auto-Tagging overwrites our UTM codes in our ad, our campaigns are no longer visible when viewing data by Source/Medium which does not work for our current setup.

We are interested in only passing the Adwords placement data with each click. Is it possible to get this by appending an additional UTM code manually to what we have?

I can see the manual tagging override in the Property Settings for GA, but does this combine the manual UTM values AND the GLCID values used in AutoTagging? Or does this pick either one or the other (picks auto-tagging if the ad does not have UTM values in place).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Joe,

Did you try using value track parameters to see what the placement is? Value track parameters can be used for tracking in Google Analytics or some third party software as well. Find more details on how to configure this here:
