ecommerce:addItem or ec:addProduct

I'm currently tracking transactions as described here

However, I now need to track whether a discount code was used for the transaction, as described here

This says to use ec:addProduct instead of ecommerce:addItem though; are these interchangeable? Neither page references the other, but they seem fairly simialr chunks of code that seem to be doing the same thing.

Any pointers?

Hi Matt,

You are using traditional ecommerce tracking on your website. In order to track discount codes you need to upgrade to Enhanced ecommerce (your second link).

ecommerce:addItem is a traditional ecommerce tracking command
ec:addProduct is an enhanced ecommerce command

Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.
