ecommerce:addItem or ec:addProduct
I'm currently tracking transactions as described here https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/ecommerce#addItem
However, I now need to track whether a discount code was used for the transaction, as described here https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/enhanced-ecommerce#measurin...
This says to use ec:addProduct instead of ecommerce:addItem though; are these interchangeable? Neither page references the other, but they seem fairly simialr chunks of code that seem to be doing the same thing.
Re: ecommerce:addItem or ec:addProduct
You are using traditional ecommerce tracking on your website. In order to track discount codes you need to upgrade to Enhanced ecommerce (your second link).
ecommerce:addItem is a traditional ecommerce tracking command
ec:addProduct is an enhanced ecommerce command
Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.
