Why would sessions be up and pageviews down?

I track analytics for my company's website year by year. From last year to this year, in one section, sessions have increased but page views have declined. What do you think might explain this, in general? Thank you. I'm a little new at interpreting the data.

Be careful how you interpret sessions in a 'section' of your website. Sessions are recorded only for the FIRST page viewed in a visit -- the landing page. If you are looking at a custom report using Page and Sessions together, then you are really looking at Page and Entrances. If you want to see how many sessions included a specific page, use Unique Pageviews.
