Why are my EventGoals NOT tracking under Funnel Visuaization in Google Analytics under NEW Property?

I currently have the following "Identical URLs across multiple steps" Goal setup working properly under one of my Properties in Google Analytics.

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1116091?hl=en&ref_topic=6150929#identical

I created a new Property because I switched my website to https:// and I setup the same exact Goals and names as I have in my other Property; however, it's not tracking any Goal data like Funnel Visualization under the new Property.

Why does this work for my old Property, but doesn't on my new Property? Do I have to use different Goal names for the new Property?

All the other traffic information is being tracked properly on this new Property, so I'm not sure why the Goals are not working too.

Thank you!

Hi olimits7,

Can you post screenshots of your goal configuration so that we can help troubleshoot? Sounds like it could be a config issue.

Hi,

You can see below how my Goals are setup on both UA-XXXXXXX-6  and UA-XXXXXXX-8 properties.  My UA-XXXXXXX-6 property is the one where my Goals still work properly and is for my http://www.domain.com property.

And the UA-XXXXXXX-8 property is the new one I created about a month ago that points to my new https://www.domain.com property.

My only guess is that I can't use the same Screen/Page event tracking number on both properties

But I don't know why it would not work with the same name since it should still get triggered just like it does under my UA-XXXXXXX-6 property.

Is there a setting under Admin that I have to enable for events to start tracking properly?  Maybe I didn't enable this under the new property?

Thank you!

Hi, olimits7,

Just to clear some confusion up, you can use the same goal number in different properties. The goals you set up in different properties are completely independent of each other. They can be called the same thing, occupy the same index, and even be configured identically without influencing each other.

Are all the pages in that funnel being tracked correctly? Did you have any other filters, for example append hostname, that could affect the resulting URLs (in which case you would also need to include the hostname in the goal steps, or use regex).

Lastly, you don't need to enable events. They are automatically tracked once they are correctly set up.

Yes, they are being tracked correctly because I can see them being tracked under UA-XXXXXXX-6.

That's the part that doesn't make any sense to me; if the UA-XXXXXXX-6 property is tracking all my event goals successfully, and I even checked a recent time period of "last week".  And I have the same exact goals and names setup under the UA-XXXXXXX-8 property; then why would these goals not be tracking?  It just doesn't make sense... Smiley Frustrated

Thank you!

I think I might have found the issue; my tracking code is setup like the following; which you can see in the image I sent before.

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-6', 'auto');
ga('send', 'pageview');
ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-8', 'auto', {'name': 'httpsTracker'});
ga('httpsTracker.send', 'pageview');

And in my pages where I track my Goals I currently have it set to the following:

ga('send', 'pageview', '/ConversionEvents/AccountInformation');

So I think I have to add another version like the following, and hopefully it will start working?

ga('httpsTracker.send', 'pageview', '/ConversionEvents/AccountInformation');

Thank you!

Oh absolutely! Multiple trackers need to be handled carefully. I think you got it!
