What does "(not set)" in the new Smart Goals report mean?

Dear all,

I am looking at the new Smart Goals report in Analytics that GA has generated and see a substantial number of "(not set)" sessions.

What does "(not set)" mean in this context?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Frank,

Were you able to find an answer to this? I was seeing a ton of data under Yes or No but as of Monday of this week 100% of my visits are showing (not set) only for Smart Goals; all other goals are tracking normally. It's driving me nuts! Hopefully you found resolution of why you are seeing (not set) as well! I am afraid it is a sign of a much larger tracking issue on my end.

Thanks!
Natasha

Hello Natasha,

No I didn't get any answer.

But in my account, I know realise that the "(not set)" value disappears on Nov 21st.

Nov 20th: 431 (not set) sessions - Nov 21st: 0 sessions and none afterwards.

Maybe it has something to do with the automated nature of these goals, where Google makes test what might work or not and then changes.

Regards

Frank
