Using view settings | Segments | Conditions

Hello.

I'm trying to use GA API to get some stats, but I need to exclude a lot of service providers (~10000 of them which gives ~350 KB of data). So I asked this question:

https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Code-Implementation/GA-API-and-massive-exclusion-by-using-...

Some nice guy (Mike) suggested using settings | view | filters, but there is so such thing as "service provider" - although it does exists when we create a custom report. However this led me to the "segments". There we can add "conditions". One of them is "Service provider".

And now I have two questions:

1. when I enter only a few of them, everything's fine, but when I tried to enter all of them, I had "resource is not available" error. So I split them to chunks of 1000 items (35 KB) - still the same message. So the question is - what is the limit?

Update: I tried with 250 items (8 KB) and it worked but then... I added another filter (by clicking the "AND" button  and it did not display any error message but it didn't save the other filter either...

2. even if I manage to get this segment working, how do I use it in an API?

Please help.

Best regards,

Konrad.

Hi Konrad,

I would suggest using approach:
A) add multiple view filters (regex) and use the API to pull data from GA
B) export raw data via API and sort and filter outside of GA

Hi Konrad - in case of view filters you can use ISP Organisation and ISP domain which are basically dimensions in UI called Service provider and Network Domain.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Zorin.

But what about the question about limits? Do you know something about it?

Thanks Zorin, I'll try that.
