Hi

Can i use Analytics Measurement Protocol to track if a receiver clicks on links in a newsletter, or can i only use custom campaign (UTM) for this?

To messure opening rate i'm using this code:

<img moz-do-not-send="true" src="http://www.google-analytics.com/collect?v=1&t=event&tid=UA-13192363-2&cid=20f04913-053f-40ff-8024-4a... style="display:none" />

How should the link be coded in a newsletter?

Best regards

Anders

Hi Anders,

You need to use the tagged URLs for tracking the clicks and the measurement protocol for the opens, it is designed like that.

Thank's Arnold

Thanks for the short and precise answers, it was exactly the conclusion I wanted to reach.
My boss would like to be able to read everything in Analytics on one page, and not having to jump between campaign and event, but now I can tell him that we will have to use both.

Best regards
Anders

Is this a common method for measuring clicks on advertisements that would sit on an email newsletter?   We used to use DFP, but it no longer supports ad serving for email, so am trying to find a solution. It might be we create an event around image urls and track these?    Look forward to your thoughts.  Many thanks
