Tracking success of Facebook ads

Hey everyone,

I'm working to track the success (revenue generated from) of my Facebook ads using Google Analytics and having a little trouble figuring out how to do this.

For one, I notice that under the Acquisition Tab it says I have over a thousand visits from Facebook and under the Eccomerce tab I only have 21. I'm just wondering what the difference is here.

Also if anyone can shed any light on how to track the dollar amount being generated with Facebook ads I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Jordan

Hi,

first: You have tagged your FB ads? so that the link contains http://jordans-site.com/landingpage?utm_campaign=facebook&utm_medium...

If you could post/send screenshots about the numbers it would be easier to answer... just to make sure we talk about same reports.

Hi Antti,

I have not tagged my FB ads no. How exactly do I do this? I'm not so concerned about the numbers of visitors as I am to track the actual revenue being driven directly by the facebook ads. How do I add this to my reports? I have my ads with the "Conversion" goal now and I just don't think I've set it up right because i'm getting tons of visits to my website from Facebook but no sales, or none that I can see obviously on the Facebook reports or in Google Analytics.

Hi,

I normally hate link dropping but it's a bit hectic right now so sorry:

These should give you the campaign tracking basics.

If you go to Acquisition -> All Traffic -> source / medium
filter the view so that only facebook remains.
You can see 3 columns Acquisition Behavior Conversions
Next to Conversions you should have drop-down where eCommerce should be selected.
Now you should have a view where you can see the traffic and eCommerce revenue generated.

If you do not tag your FB campaigns they most likely show as facebook / referral or facebook / social.

One remark, I have never seen very high conversion rates with FB ads but then again I have not seen that many of them.
Check out these averages and compare how are you doing:
