Tracking multiple conversions in a sequence

Hi all,

I have a several goals set up in Google Analytics and all work fine.

I just wonder if it is possible to track if users complete the goals in a sequence or not. I mean, I have a 'download' goal and an 'open account' goal, I want to learn if users go and complete the 'open account' goal after downloading.

How is it possible?

Thank you!

Levon

Hello Levon,
This is possible. Did you define those goals via a destination?

Add a new goal

Select the type "Destination"

Paste the confirmation page of your second goal at "Destination"

Then activate the funnel

Name the first step and paste the confirmation page of your first goal.

Activate "Required" of the first step

I hope, this is what you looked for.
Best regards,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your help.
The problem is the 'download' goal is defined as an event, not destination.
I tried to make virtual page views for them to be able to track them, however, I was not able.

So, is it the only option?

Thank you,
Levon

Sorry I don't know if it is possible to create a goal of this type.

If you want to get the amount of users or even more it would be an easy way to create a custom segment. On the left bottom you can define a sequence of events, pages and even goals.

Advantage: You may also evaluate historic data

OK, thank you, I will try making the 'download' goal via destination and start tracking it in as a funnel step.

Thank you!

Hi Levon,

You haver other options as well to include sessions in a custom segment where both these goals were completed - it can also be widened to user scope so to say include all users which completed both actions regardless if this happened in one or multiple sessions.

The issue with goal funnel is that the goal will show completion regardless if the user did or did not perform the required first step - the only report this has any influence on is the Funnel visualization report.

Funnels cannot be set using event unfortunately therefore it would be better to create a segment which would include sessions / users which do have goal completion and the event in question.

Thank you, Zorin.
I have tried to create segments and it seems to be showing all the info I needed.
So there's no need for changes in goal configurations.

Thanks!

Levon
