I want to be able to track when visitors click the email link on my website coming from google adwords.

What's the best way to get this done?

You can send an event to GA when the link is clicked. Then in GA under Behavior -> Events select your event action and source/medium as the secondary dimension. For AdWords it will say google / cpc. Please read about event tracking below:

If you are using Universal Analytics with the tracking snippet from GA, you need to modify your email link to look like this:

<a href="" onclick="ga('send', 'event', 'Clicks', 'Email');
">Email Link</a>

Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions.

Hi Will,

Aside from what Arnold recommends, you can also accomplish this with Google Tag Manager which will allow you to fire the AdWords pixel whenever the link text is your email address, saving you the bother of installing the tracking on every mention of it.
