Should I track multiple pages in one category separately?

What is the best practice? Should I track "Category Page-1", "Page-2", "Page-3", "Page-4", etc. as separate URLs in Google Analytics (default behavior) or should I track all of the multiple pages as one Category Page (using Exclude URL Query Parameters for the page parameter)?

For example, I have:

/living-room-furniture?page=1

/living-room-furniture?page=2

/living-room-furniture?page=3

/living-room-furniture?page=4

There is no different content on page 1 vs page 2 except for the different products that are listed. Should I keep tracking the pages as separate URLs or should I combine the tracking to a single URL, e.g. /living-room-furniture?

Hi Laurence,

It's up to you if you want to track them separately. If you combine them, you won't be able to tell how many views each of them received separately. If that information is not important to you, your reports will be cleaner by combining them.

Thank you for the answer Arnold. If I combine them, will Google Analytics count different pages as separate page views?

For example if I visit:

  1. /living-room-furniture?page=1
  2. /living-room-furniture?page=2
  3. /living-room-furniture?page=3

Will GA count this as 3 page views or 1?

GA will record 3 page views for /living-room-furniture.
