Regex for a cyclical goal

Our users often sort through a set of page directories that would look something like this:

.../vehicle/R289/events
.../vehicle/R289/location

.../vehicle/R289/documentation

...some other page or set of pages

.../vehicle/R289/events

.../vehicle/8922SP3/events

How would I write a regular expression in order for the goal to count when the user goes to /vehicle/R289/events and /vehicle/8922SP3/events for the first time, but not when the user returns to the same page for a second (or more) time? We're essentially trying to count how many vehicles the user looks at in a session or day and how many are seen in total. This cannot currently be done with event tracking for how our site is set up.
