Referral Domain is not Appearing in GA When Use UTM Tags

I'm running PPC campaign on various domains, which diverts traffic to my site through tracking script.

1) Referral Domain:  various domains

2) Tracking Script: http://www.tracking.com/track.php?c=mWlPT0Qyj5

3) Landing Page: https://www.destination.com/?utm_source=tracking&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=123456

In GA reports all traffic come under Paid Traffic as per UTM tags. But I'm not able to see referral domains in GA reports.

What If I add "tracking.com" in referral exclusion list? Should I able to track UTM tags & referral domain together?

Is there any way that I can track list of referral domains?

Looking for advice.

Hi Stephen,

You need to use the same property id on both tracking.com and destination.com and to set up cross domain tracking. You need to add both domains to the referral exclusion list.

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for reply back.

I see what you mean, that is possible and we can add GA code to tracking.com. I've few queries can you please have a look at them?

1) We're using tracking.com to track PPC stats for our few domains. In that case should I need to add all property IDs into tracking.com?

2) Does it manipulate analytic data of destination domains in negative way?

3) Is there any pros and cons?

4) We've implemented redirection in following manner.
(a) Tracking.com URL --> JavaScript Redirection --->
(b) Destination URL with HTTP Protocol --> 301 Redirection -->
(c) Destination URL with HTTPS Protocol

4.1) Does analytic track traffic properly if we use redirection as above shown?

5) If any visit come through tracking.com, does it count that visit for all Destination domains?

Looking for reply.

Hi Stephen,

Yes, you need to add the tracking code for each property to tracking.com. Please check the document below about working with multiple trackers.
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/creating-trackers#working_w...
The js redirect should not affect the referral data.
How is the 301 redirect set up? The tracking code needs to be fired before the redirection happens.
If you set up cross domain tracking for all the destination domains, tracking should be working properly. You need to add all domains to the referral exclusion list. I'm not sure that I understand the question under 5).

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for reply back.

I'm not sure how to fire analytic tracking before redirection takes place. As redirection begins from htaccess. And we have to keep that script redirection, in that case I don't think we can manage to see referral data.
