Paid referrals - what should the medium be?
We have paid for links on various websites. They are part of 'enhanced profiles' for our organisation. The question is, when using UTM tracking, I assume the correct medium is referral rather than anything else, as they aren't banner ads or CPC for example?

that's completely up to you what medium seems to be the most appropriate. You may also choose a new medium designation like 'links' to distinguish them from ordinary, natural links.
