Need to track traffic from a redirect URL

Our company is using a unique URL from GoDaddy to redirect traffic to a page on our website. Since it is purely a redirect URL and not an actual page, how do I track the traffic coming in from this URL? Do I just place code within the page that traffic is being directed to? If so, what kind of code do I need and do I need to set up something specific in the Analytics back end to catch the traffic? Thanks!

Hi,

You can use the URL builder tool to create a tagged URL for the page on your website and use it at GoDaddy to redirect the traffic to. This way you will be able to identify the traffic in Google Analytics. Please find the URL builder here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033867?hl=en

Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions.

I just used the URL Builder and generated the code, but I am unsure of where I need to place this.

There are special values you can place in the URL that redirects to you to provide source, medium, campaign, and other information you may want to see in Google Analytics.

Yes, but where do I place this code once I've created it?

Use it at GoDaddy as the URL you want to redirect traffic to.

It's seems to be fine. You should see the campaign values you set collected in Google Analytics soon.

So, I don't need to place that code anywhere in order to begin tracking?

You only need to add it at GoDaddy as the redirect destination URL, no other changes are required.

Let me know if you have more questions.
