How to track cross traffic between two related websites

I have a main site www.domain.com and a related blog site blog.domain.com. I want to track how much traffic comes from the blog to the main site, and how much from the main site to the blog. The two sites are set up as two properties under my GA account. I set up events for outbound links but did not capture any of the cross traffic.

Could anyone provide some pointers about the best/simplest way to get the cross traffic information? Thanks!

Try appending utm parameters to any link on blog.domain.com directing to www.domain.com
e.g. href="http://www.domain.com/page/?utm_source=mydomainblog&utm_meidum=referral&....."
Then check the source/medium report in www.domain.com property.
