How to Calculate Conversion Rate

Hello,

I've been trying to understand "How to Calculate Conversion Rate" for a while but I haven't got an answer yet so I thought I'd ask here.

I don't understand how CR is calculated: Google Analytics says is the % of visits that completed a goal.

In April 2017, I had 19,596 sessions, 0 completions for Goal 1 (/cart page), 0 completions for Goal 2 (/checkout), 0 completions for Goal 3 (/thank you page)

Therefore my CR for Goal 0 is 0.00%. Then I thought I'd take into consideration that my bounce rate for that month advertising is 69.77% but that doesn't add up either.

If anyone could help me out with this dilemma, that would be so great

Thank you so much,

Mercy J.

Hi Mercy,

Conversion rate: Total completions of a specific goal / total sessions * 100

You should not directly correlate bounce rate and conversion rate because your users might be navigating on your website but do not perform any action that you set up as a goal.

You might have a problem on your goal settings, please double check.

Cheers!

Hi Guney,

Thank you for your reply and information it is very helpful.

My goals are not collecting any data - which I find quite strange as in the Behaviour flow I see that people have entered /cart (which is one of the goals URL)

Will double check this - would you be open to supporting me to check if the data is being accurately recorded? I also have noticed very high pageloads (60+secs) which are not accurate as users in those countries have informed me that the pageloads within a matter of (10+secs).

So I think something is going wrong.

Regards
Mercy

Hi Mercy,

Yes, I would be open to help you. Can you please tell me how exactly did you set up your goals? Are you using "Equal to" or "Starting with"?

As a side suggestion for you: You can create a single goal and create funnel with the goal steps, so you can easily see where users are dropping more.

About Page Timing, you should check with different dimensions to narrow down your analysis to be able to find the reason.

You can start checking the pageload by;

Page dimension, you can try to figure out if a specific page has a problem

Browser dimension, in case a specific browser is taking more time to load your pages

User country and Network domain..

Basically, you need to dig a bit deeper in this case because there are many situations that can cause this.

Güney

Hi Guney,

Thank you! I appreciate it. I set the Goal as 'Equal to' and the goal paths from Shop to Order Received.

But nothing has been recorded.

Ok I will investigate the Page & Browser Dimension will let you know what I find there. Seems quite unusual as I have asked some people located in those countries, all have reported page loads within 5 - 10secs.

Hi Mercy,

You shouldn't enter full URL as destination. Can you please try the following goal setup?

http://prntscr.com/f6nqfq

I took a quick look at your website and I realized that your pageview is being fired twice with the same GA account id. I advice you to investigate this situation. You have http://prntscr.com/f6nx3f

It seems like 'Rocket Loader' that you are using is causing the problem. You have its script on 2 places in your code.

You're welcome

quick comment on page load - if you're not sampling the maximum number of pages, then it's easy for this data to be skewed. Segment it by browser, you'll probably find some outliers there.

Hello Guney,

Thank you I have changed the goal to your suggested - it has been 24 hours. However, it still has not recorded any entries.

Yes, this is an issue - but I cannot seem to find the two entries - I have a google analytics integration for WooCommerce and an Adwords Conversion tracking plugin.

Could you give me some direction on where I could find the source of the double entry? I have tried to contact my campaign specialist regarding this but not response yet.

Appreciate your in-depth checking of my site.
Thank you.

Hello John,

Thank you I have found this code;
_gaq.push(['_setSiteSpeedSampleRate', 100]);

On this site;
http://andrescholten.net/small-site-raise-your-page-load-time-calculation-sample-to-100/

However, I installed the google analytics for my site through an integration WooCommerce plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-google-analytics-integration/

So I am not sure on where to paste this code now?

Hope for your assistance and support for the above.
Thank you.

Hi Mercy,

Double pageview problem looks like fixed. Do you still have problem related to your Goal?
