Google Measurement Protocol suddenly doesn't track correct source/medium for most transactions

We use Google Measurement Protocol to record offline transactions into Google Analytics and have been doing so for a few months. Typically the conversions happen between 0-30 days after a visit to our website. When people do an action our our site, we store their Client ID from the Google Analytics cookie and use this as CID for Google Measurement Protocol when tracking any conversions.

Until now, we've been able to track everything correctly, meaning that Google Analytics has reported the correct amount of transactions that we've "sent" through Google Measurement Protocol - and also tracked these conversions with the original source/medium.

On the 26th of October, this changed so that we now only get the correct source/medium for conversions that take place on the same day as their first visit to our site.

We've already checked that we do fetch Client ID correctly from the Google Analytics cookie, store this correctly and send this as part of GMP when the conversions happen. Nevertheless, all conversions that do not occur on the same day as the customers first visit, are now tracked as direct traffic... Even though they're not.

Hi @Kasper R there has been some recent issues with GA processing data which started on 25th/26th so that may be one of the causes for such behavior unless something changed in your setup?

Kind regards,

Zorin

Hi Zorin,

We deal with the same problem as Kasper describes. We have a offline conversion happening after a couple of days and do not see any origin source/medium. Is there an update about the recent issues or do we need to have another setup?

In our case we send a pageview and send also the clientId which was saved during the online session. We use the measurement protocol ofcourse.

Love to hear from you.
