Goal for Traffic from external referrer page

Hi,

my goal seems to be pretty straightforward. However, I haven't found an answer yet. I need to setup a goal in analytics for a purchase. It is crucial that the funnel includes an external website that is not under our control. A campaign or domain cross-linking are no options. Example:

google.com > /products.php > /cart.php > /thank-you.php

How can I include the external URL in the funnel? Is it possible at all? Or is there a better solution inside analytics?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi,

You can send a virtual pageview to GA when the referrer is the external page.

<script>
var ref1= document.referrer;

var search = "external-page.html";
if (ref1.indexOf(search) > -1)
    ga('send', 'pageview', '/external.html');
</script>

Then add '/external.html' to the funnel.

Hope this helps.
