Goal completion for sign up not matching number of sign ups

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well.

I have a destination goal set up in GA which is producing different goal completions to reality. For example, last Friday GA showed 16 goal completions for sign ups but there were actually 25. The sign up url format in the detination goal is correct.

What could be causing this discrepancy please?

Thanks,

Lauren.

Hi Lauren,

It's never easy to compare web-analytics data with internal data. A possible reason could be that analytics goals are session-based. So, if someone signs up five times in a session it's one goal completion nevertheless. Further possibilities include users that have disabled JavaScript or cookies in their browsers, different time-zone settings in the two systems, a different measurement method in your internal system etc. How do you actually measure your sign-ups in 'reality'?
