Funnel exit the same as funnel page

We have built a funnel to track users creating accounts on our website.

It looks like users are leaving the funnel to the same page that the funnel step is.

Here is how our funnel is set up: http://prntscr.com/flmx9c

Here is how the operation looks: http://prntscr.com/flmxt8

For example, users leave the 'register' step into the same 'register' page - I am not sure why.

I am trying to understand how users can exit to the same page - any help is appreciated.

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for the reply.

Can you please explain what you mean? The example on the google support page is that step 2 may show an exit to step 1.

However, what I have mentioned is that step 2 shows an exit to step 2. For example, the register page shows an exit to the register page.

If a user refreshes a page or navigates back to it from another page, it will be displayed as an exit to that page.

Only one visit is counted for a step in a single session in the funnel visualization report, the second visit is counted as an exit to that page.

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for following up.

So in this case, it is likely to be a refresh then - as the situation is that page 2 exits to page 2 (and not a case of page 2 exiting to page 1 which may be a backward navigation).

I'm just trying to work out though - so if we have 100 people who arrive at page 2, then 50 'exit' by refreshing, what happens to those 50? Are they just lost from the funnel even if they do proceed?
