Event Tracking

Hi,

I'm currently working with a client on an iOS app and he'd like to have Google Analytics integrated so he can track some specific events. Can you please tell me if it's possible to track these events with GA?

1. At what times of the day do they access some particular features of the app?

2. What neighborhoods were they located in when they accessed those features?

3. Lifetime value of users (users' age)

4. Type of subscription they mostly sign up for? (monthly vs. annual)

5. Who uses the app (gender) and on what devices?

6. What types of notifications does someone send?

7. What type of info they add on their profile (hobbies, pets, etc)?

8. Do people skip specific screens/feature to get to the main screen?

9. Track users' occupation (which is not added in the app)

Thanks,

Hi Elena,

All of that could be tracked in GA. That said, much of it requires the use of Custom Dimensions. Custom Dimensions can be used to store whatever you like - such as occupation - but you would have to know that somewhere to pass it into GA -- perhaps from a CRM. The only limitation is that in free GA you have 20 available (200 in premium) and you CANNOT pass anything that is PII (Personally Identifiable). See section 7 of the GA TOS for more on that.

Here is a reference for Custom Dimensions for you!

I would also advise you to check out Firebase which is the new Analytics for apps from Google
