Event Goal Tracking Not Showing In Real Time Conversions?

Hi,

I'm having a bit of difficulty with tracking events as goal conversions.

Basically, I have a Squarespace website and I have the below code on the page with the form I'm attempting to track

<script type="text/javascript" src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">

var eventposted=0;

$(document).ready(function(){
    $('input.button').click(function() {
        window.setInterval(foo, 100);
    });
});

function foo(){
        if(($(".form-submission-text").is(':visible')) && (eventposted==0)){
           _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Test Page Form', 'Submission']);

            eventposted=1;
        }
}

</script>

With this code in mind, I created a "Custom" goal with the following conditions

Category - Equal to - Forms

Action - Equal to - Submission

Label - Equal to - Test Page Form

When I submit the form, I can see in the real time events, it shows. However, the Real Time conversions don't seem to change?

Event Category

Test Page Form

Event Action

Submission

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My eyes are becoming a little square at this point!

Hi :-)
what version of tracking is your site using?
Universal or Asynchronous?

If the site uses Universal analytics.js, the event tracking syntax is incorrect
ga('send', 'event', 'Test Page Form', 'Submission');

Hi Bronwyn,

Seems the UA code has just been entered into a box. I don't think Squarespace offered Universal so it must be Asynchronous? I could use the code injection option to place the Universal code into the site.

If you check the site source code you shoud be able to see if they are using Asynchronous or Universal.

Doesnt matter which is used, just need to use the correct event tracking syntax for whichever is in use.

That is just off the top of my head, and not sure if there are any other issues with your code being used as
I'm only just starting to learn javascript.

Can you provide a link to the site so i can take a quick look via browser?

Thanks :-)
Ok. so Async ga.js is being used, so your event tracking syntax is correct
I just reread your initial post too regarding the goal

Category - Equal to - Forms

Action - Equal to - Submission

Label - Equal to - Test Page Form

There is no label set in the event

_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Test Page Form', 'Submission']);

should read as

_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Test Page Form', 'Submission', 'Test Page Form']);

Also for goal testing, you need to clear your cookies each time, as a goal will only register as a goal once during a session.

Bronwyn,

Thank you for this. Seems adding the label allowed me to track them successfully (in real time I can see conversions now!).

I've tried to implement this on the homepage (footer section form) with no luck. I'm using the code I provided with the edited portion from yourself but it doesn't seem to be showing through Real Time conversions...
