E-Mail Tracking - Track each link clicks and analyze

Hello,

I have a "problem" with my newsletter tracking.

I want to track the clicks on each link but I don't find this on the google analytics page.

Following situation:

I have a html-newsletter with 2 links (e.g. link1.com and link2.com) and I want to track the clicks on this link.

I know how I can add the utm parameters to this link (campaign name, content and so on)

For example my automatic created link:

http://www.this-is-a-website.com/?%2Fm17%2Fregistration%2Fen=&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=New...

And in the html-version of the newsletter I added the Google Analytics Tracking Pixel before </BODY>

My added tracking pixel

src="https://www.google-analytics.com/collect?v=1&tid=MYUSERID&cid=*|UNIQID|*&t=event&ec=email&ea=OpenAnd..."

Okay, so far so good. On the Google Analytics page i see the entire clicks for this campaign (e.g. OpenAndAction - 1000 clicks)

But how I manage that I can see the clicks for each link?

E.g. Link1 - 400 clicks and Link2 - 600 clicks

I know that I must use the utm_content parameter for this but I couldn't find this content name on the Google Analytics page to analyze this....

I would be very happy if someone could help me Smiley (fröhlich)

Thanks

Best Regards

Fabian

Hi,

Please check under Acquisition -> Campaigns -> All Campaigns, select Ad Content from the "Other" dropdown as the primary dimension:

Let me know if this is what you need.

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for your reply.

I have made a new test mail with following links

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=ID%2F&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=TestCampaignForCont...

And before </body> I add

<IMG src="https://www.google-analytics.com/collect?v=1&tid=MYID&cid=*|UNIQID|*&t=event&ec=email&ea=NewEvent&el...">

Do you know if this is correct?

As you said, I take as primary dimension "Ad Content". I see following picture

 GoogleAnalytics.PNG

I only see (not set).... and not LinkToFacebook. Do you know whats the problem?

Thank you

Hi,

You can use the UTM parameters only when linking to your site where you have the GA tracking code installed. The tracking code collects the values from the utm parameters and it will send them to GA with the hit. Hope this makes sense.

You can use the 'keyword' element in the UTM tag and name it after the 2 links you have i.e. link1  or link 2. You can see the data in the other dimension.

Hope this helps
