Discrepancies between A/B Experiment clicks and Events clicks in Analytics

I've set up multiple A/B experiments with Analytics (here's an example) but have been perplexed by some of the results. My conversions are defined as a click on any of my payment buttons. My issue is the discrepancy between the number of click conversions shown in Experiments vs those shown in Events. The two often vary dramatically, even when I factor in unique vs total clicks (yes, I'm also using the same date ranges for these comparisons). In one of my experiments, the number of conversions even outnumbered the amount of clicks shown in Events. If my conversions are based on clicks, how can such discrepancies occur? Also, my experiment code does come before the analytics code in my header (i.e., is properly placed to my knowledge).
