Data Import refund does not work

Before the UI update, I was able to set up refund reports via Data Import. Since the UI update, Data Import seems to be broken. See attached. I'm not given the option to select a view nor am allowed to select the appropriate schema.

Hi,

I also tried for Data Import without success. However sending hits directly works:

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/protocol/v1/devguide#commonhits

Check under Measuring Refunds. There's a link for making the hit.

Hit builder also shows you the hit URL so you can use that to dynamically create your refund set, if you have many rows of data.

Hope this helps

So, Google has basically dropped support for Refunds via Data Import without acknowledging it? The option to create a Refund data set is still present but that's as far as one can get. Seems strange, to say the least.

Dunno if they actually discontinued it. Sometimes some features go on a break if they have problems with it. I received a message earlier when I was trying to download the uploads and it said something about early 2017... today download worked but the filename was garbage.

So I think they are working on it... Of course it would be nice if there would be some kind of notification there...

Would def. be nice considering the only alternative required technical resources which is not always available. Anyways, in case anyone else comes across this post, here is a screenshot showing the broken Refund functionality via Data Import.

Correct, still not working. I believe using the API is the only way to use the Data Import feature currently.

Hi Tom,

I also tried to use the API via a script in google sheets ( https://optimizationup.com/automatically-import-refund-data-google-analytics/ ), but this is also not working. May I ask how you are using the Data Import function?

Hi Peter,

I was able to fix my problems by using the Hit Builder (https://ga-dev-tools.appspot.com/hit-builder/).

What we are doing is similar to what is explained in this post: https://www.optimizesmart.com/how-to-remove-modify-google-analytics-ecommerce-transaction-in-one-cli...

Hope it helps.

Hi Ariel,

Thanks for your help!
I used the Hit Builder, but also without success. I am really clueless why nothing is working...
