Cart recovery solution

My team is looking for a Google product in implementing some kind of cart recovery campaign, as we are temporarily discontinuing marketing automation with Marketo, our previous solution. What we're trying to achieve is a way to "remind" customers about their items in cart and encourage them to check out, once we detect that they navigate too far from the cart.


An example workflow from our previous solution:


  • A cookie is created to store user's browsing behaviour
  • A script triggers a count once the user adds and item to cart and visits cart page, but do not proceed to check out and instead visits another page on our site
  • A small banner with messaging and link is triggered once user navigates a certain number of pages away from cart, and/or a certain amount of time passed in session


Would Google Analytics for the tracking part, combined with Optimize for the onsite dynamic content, be able to handle something like this?
