Hello, is there a way to track the average time spent by users to reach a goal ?

This is different from the average duration of all sessions with a conversion...

Interesting question. Off the top of my head, you could modify GA to send a time stamp with every hit and then analyse the time stamps for the event or url linked to the goal conversion - that may work?

Thinking about it, that would not give you elapsed time - so you'd need to analyse the time  stamps from the start of the session as well. Had a quick google and found this:http://www.gsqi.com/imd/?p=191 (though it may well send a lot of events, so watch out for that).

Apologies for being a little unfocused, but at work.... :-)

Thanks a lot John.

Both methods seem complicated, I see that the second method uses GTM... perhaps it's the easiest way, what's your feeling about it ?

That looks cool - though I would guess that it's going to need a lot of testing; I would expect there to be exceptions to a user having a clean run at a goal (for example, if they purchase over two sessions and begin their second session halfway through the check-out process). You can send hit time stamps very easily via Google Tag Manager: https://www.simoahava.com/analytics/improve-data-collection-with-four-custom-dimensions/
