Auto Tagging

Hi,

I would like to ask, if I linked AdWords & Analytics, and then I created goals form GA and imported it to AW, but I disabled the auto-tagging;

1) Will there any conversions recorded in GA from AW?

2) Will the conversions recorded in GA (if any) be transferred to AW?

What happen then when I enable the auto-tagging after 2 weeks running the AW campaign? Will anything from GA reflected in AW?

I'm sorry as I don't know how to address this because I still don't understand how this auto-tagging in AW reflect reporting in GA and vice versa.

Please help me to clear my doubts.

Thanks!

Hi Syerra,

If you disable auto tagging in AdWords, Google Analytics or any other web analytics tool isn't able to distinguish between organic Google and AdWords Google traffic. So, there will be conversions recorded in GA from AdWords, but they will be attributed to Google organic instead. There will be no conversions transferred to AdWords in this case. If you re-enable auto tagging, things will be fine from that point on, but there is no way to do that retroactively.

Hi Christoph,

Could you help me understand what would happen in this exact scenario, if my GA account also had a lot of historical data? Will all the historical data associated with the account, before GA aut-tagging was disabled, still be available in GA?

Thanks!
