wordpress and google analytics suddenly not matching

My site's Google Analytics stats and WordPress (Jetpack) stats have been very similar. Beginning in September, Google Analytics stats dropped drastically, while WordPress stats continue looking steady.

I've tried suggestions found in this forum to remove the filters and see if that makes a difference and to set up a different "View" for the original site with no filters or exclusions applied. There is no difference in the data. Wordpress stats continue to show steady traffic to the site each day while Google Analytics shows much lower numbers, less than half on most days.

The website is www.hungryhobby.net. If anyone has thoughts on how to test or fix this issue, it would be much appreciated.

Hi @Kelli S :-)
There are a few issues with the tracking

There are multiple copies if tracking code installed for Tracking ID/Property UA-52118641-1 using different different configurations too.

This will lead to conflicts and either faulty data or the tracking not working at all.

Currently there is a copy of the Universal analytics.js tracking code installed with display features enabled via the following plugin GADWP v4.9.3.2 https://deconf.com/google-analytics-dashboard-wordpress/

There is also another copy of the Universal analytics.js tracking code installed.
You seem to possibly be using a Genesis based theme so check the theme settings to see if there is also a copy of the tracking script installed in the theme admin option where it allows you to add scripts to the wp head section.

I would suggest keeping the copy of tracking code installed via the plugin. It has some useful configuration options in the settings. You may want to have a look on their site
I suggest going thru their help pages on their site and the videos they provide to make sure the plugin is correctly setup and authorized properly in order to be able track your site.

Apart from having only a single version of tracking installed and correctly configured, you should have at least one view with absolutely no filters applied to it

Thank you @Bronwyn V !  I was using GADWP plugin with no issues.  Then  my developer disabled a bunch of jetpack stuff and all of sudden my stats TANKED in google analytics.  the wordpress stats were gone so I figured it was right.  When I asked her to enable the jetpack stats she did and I noticed those were almost double my GA.  I tracked this for two weeks and asked my developer about it who insisted everything was installed correctly.  In my frustration, I uninstalled and reinstalled GADWP and then added a second plugin.  Now the tracking is lining up with jetpack stats again.  Now I'm scared to disable one of them because I'm not sure which one is working properly!

Hi :-)

Apart from GADWP plugin what is the name of the other plugin that is being used to add the tracking?

eta - also does the View you are looking at in GA have any filters applied to it?

Hi! I've had my developer remove both plugins and insert the GA plug into
the tag. Today, again my wordpress stats are almost double the GA stats.
It is so frustrating! The only thing she thought could be causing the
problem would be the wordfence plugin. Not sure what to do now. Thank you
for any insight!
