Hi again!

you stated previously:

What is the tracking id? Is it  UA-42083553-1?

if the other sites are https.. https to http will be direct/none

facebook and some of the other social sites will show referral traffic because they are specifically setup to do so. most https to http wont show referral info though.

I'm not sure whta this last line in the tracking code snippet is for

window.google_analytics_uacct = "UA-42083553-1";

What does this mean?

Am i supposed to enter a tracking code manually into my posts or is this done automatically with the tracking code?

Thanks again but I am so lost here.

And yes that is my code Smiley Happy

when i check referrals from other sites and test a page from someone else'e computer there's no record of it.

Plus my numbers have tanked Smiley Sad

If you are checking for traffic from referring sites and the sites are https and your site is http.. then usually that wont show as referral traffic.
It will show as (direct) / (none) for source/medium

facebook and some other social sites are setup in specific way so as you can see the referral traffic.. most https sites though will not pass the referral info to other sites that are not https too.

when you test the site from another computer. what steps are you taking to test it?

were any filters applied to the analytics View around the time the traffic started to tank?

I just go to sites that have links to my recipes and click through to my site but the traffic isn't captured, i.e., the referrer or that the page was visited.

Am i supposed to enter a tracking code manually into my posts or is this done automatically with the tracking code?

The site is WP, the tracking code is added to the site already via this plugin

https://deconf.com/google-analytics-dashboard-wordpress/

You dont add it to each post or page.. it is already added

The plugin is also event tracking outbound links, document downloads (if there are any)
and a number of other things..
Strongly suggest you take a look at their help docs and their help videos etc.

https://deconf.com/google-analytics-dashboard-wordpress/

If you are using a plugin and its not working as you expect or you think there is an issue with it.. you really should ask the plugin creator via their support options.
They will be familiar  with their product and possible known issues and similar

eta.. also if you are browsing your site while logged into the admin, chances are the visits will not be tracked. the plugin i think from memory is set to not track admin by default

thanks!

where would i see the tracking code on the posts?

I "test" from computers at work, etc.

Real time seems okay but then the history doesn't have the data captured

you dont see the tracking code in the posts.. it's in the page source code.. if you go to a post and right click and view source you will then see the tracking code snippet if you read thru the source code

<!-- BEGIN GADWP v4.9.6.2 Universal Tracking - https://deconf.com/google-analytics-dashboard-wordpress/ -->
<script type="text/javascript">
(function($){
    $(window).load(function() {

            //Track Downloads
            $('a').filter(function() {
                return this.href.match(/.*\.(zip|ra*|mp*|avi|flv|mpeg|pdf|doc*|ppt*|xls*|jp*|png|gif|tiff|bmp|txt)(\?.*)?$/);
            }).click(function(e) {
                ga('send','event', 'download', 'click', this.href);
            });

            //Track Mailto
            $('a[href^="mailto"]').click(function(e) {
                ga('send','event', 'email', 'send', this.href);
             });

            //Track Outbound Links
            $('a[href^="http"]').filter(function() {
                if (!this.href.match(/.*\.(zip|ra*|mp*|avi|flv|mpeg|pdf|doc*|ppt*|xls*|jp*|png|gif|tiff|bmp|txt)(\?.*)?$/)){
                    if (this.href.indexOf('lisagcooks.com') == -1) return this.href;
                }
            }).click(function(e) {
                ga('send','event', 'outbound', 'click', this.href);
            });

            //Track Affiliates
            $('a').filter(function() {
            	if ('/out/'!=''){
        	       	return this.href.match(/(\/out\/)/);
            	}
            }).click(function(event) {
               		ga('send','event', 'affiliates', 'click', this.href);
            });

            //Track Hashmarks
            $('a').filter(function() {
                if (this.href.indexOf('lisagcooks.com') != -1 || this.href.indexOf('://') == -1) return this.hash;
            }).click(function(e) {
                ga('send','event', 'hashmark', 'click', this.href);
            });

        });
})(jQuery);
</script>
<script>
  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
  })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');
  ga('create', 'UA-42083553-1', 'auto');
  ga('require', 'linkid', 'linkid.js');
  ga('send', 'pageview');

  window.google_analytics_uacct = "UA-42083553-1";
</script>

<!-- END GADWP Universal Tracking -->

I'm not sure what this line in the tracking code is you may want to check with the plugin support:

window.google_analytics_uacct = "UA-42083553-1";

If you are able to see your visits in the real time reporting.. then they should be fine in the standard reports...it can often take up to 48hrs for data to show up in the reports from the time of the pageview occurring..

one more thing.. can you please check the Property Settings page and the View Settings page and make sure the website url is entered without the www

Enjoy your weekend :-)

Hi,

My posts are my recipes and when i go into edit and then text, the code you have above isn't there.  Is that where I should see it?

I checked the settings page and there is no www.

Have a great weekend, I'll check back on Monday.

Again, thank you very much Smiley Happy

Hi :-)

No that is not where you should see it.
Log out of your site's admin.. go to a recipe page.. and right click on the page somewhere and use the option to View Source (or it might have a similar option like View Page Source).
This will then allow you to see the page code and you can read thru it all and see the code added by the plugin that i posted the above example of.
