beacon shorturl clickthrough rate discrepancy in GA
I'm testing some physical web beacons that broadcast a short url (provided by a well-known short-url provider) that then redirects to a landing page with campaign keywords as part of the landing page url E.g. <domain>.<tld>/<landing-page>?utm_source=mkfront&utm_campaign=spring2017&utm_medium=beacons
When I check the clickthrough numbers in the shortUrl provider I have 100's of clicks, but when checking in GA against the utm_source of 'mkfront' as an example I get just 5 records back for the same period.
I don't think it's bot-related as the only place where the url is published is on the beacon itself, so you have to be within 30 metres of that. The source code for the page does contain the Tag Manager code and correct UA id.
Can anyone advise on other strategies to check and identify the large discrepancy?
