Why is 'previous page to page' data different to advanced segments

Hi all,

I have a question about a discrepancy between data in a 'previous page path > page' custom report and the data in an advanced segment (using sequences). The data should be the same and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how the data might differ in terms of how it's collected.

For the advanced segment (using pages that exactly match), the sequence is:

Step 1. any interaction - page exactly matching A

Step 2. immediately followed by page B

The segment gives me:

Page A - 50,513 page views (35,553 unique)

Page B - 14,492 page views (8,294 unique)

If I create a custom report with Page A as the previous page path and B as the page, I get:

Page A - 50,513 page views (35,553 unique)

Page B  - 8,923 page views (4,529 unique)

I'm using unsampled reports so there shouldn't be any difference. Even though the figures '8,923' and '8,294' are close, one is still 7.5% larger which shouldn't be the case using unsampled reports.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Ivan

I too am facing the exact same dilemma. Were you able to unravel this mystery?
