What is the difference between "generic paid search" and just "paid search"

In Google Analytics, the Acquisition/Overview link displays a pie chart with the following paid search channels:

  • branded paid search
  • paid search
  • generic paid search

If "branded paid search" displays % of visitors that come from branded searches, and "generic paid searches" displays % of visitors that come from non-branded searches, what is "'paid searches"?

Thanks!

GJ

Those are custom channel groupings, so it depends on how you have defined them.

If the channel groupings were created according to Google's suggestions (link below), then the third 'paid search' should have been named 'Paid Search (unknown)' which would contain paid search traffic for which there was no query or keyword available.
