Weird spike in analytics

Hello,

I´m seeing a weird down spike in analytics for the past 26th Oct:

Captura de pantalla 2016-11-03 a las 11.13.13.png

This makes no sense to us, nothing happened in our side (our servers were up & running), we did not make any changes in acquisition or marketing campaigns, plus we dont see the same decrease in our server.

Any ideas of what could be happening here?

Thanks

Elena.

  1. Technically it's a dip or a drop, not a spike.
  2. There is always a chance your tracking code got confused/changed that day
  3. This is for users only. Have you noticed the same drop for sessions and pageviews?
  4. There a chance that you have a competitor that performed better and drew your visitors away from your site
  5. Is October 26 a bank holiday day in your region? People tend to not browse as much during certain occasions.

Hi Elena,

A lot of users have reported missing data on 10/25/16, which also appeared to impact %New Sessions metric. While visit and ecom data did appear normal on 10/26, my %New Session was still way off on 10/26, which points to the problem still existing in some form. No response from Google as far as I can tell.

Did you site see a spike in %New Sessions on 10/26?

Best,

Mike

Hola Mike,

Thanks for your response!

Yep, I do have a spike on %new sessions but on the 27.

Elena,

Was the spike in %New Sessions abnormally high? In my instance, that metric always hovered between 40%-50% the months prior but was 65%+ on both 10/25 and 10/26.

If your rate was abnormally high compared to historical data, I would chalk it up to the same data collection issue from the thread I linked to. Here's hoping it gets fixed or at least acknowledged by Google.

Best,

Mike

Guys, this is not a data collection issue.

Google is very much aware of this glitch and data for 10/25 will get reprocessed starting next week.

Are you aware of any updates on this issue? Our data has still not been reprocessed for 10/25.
