Can anyone help me out? So I'm an ad, it shows that I have 823 views as of now. But when looking at my channel I don't see that many at all. I usually start running the ads after a couple of days but this time I wanted to try to run it at the beginning to see if its really working. Any ideas of why the views are not close to being accurate??

Channel reports are just another way to view the data in analytics, and you can customize them however you want. What kind of advertising are we talking about here?

Several mediums populate your channel reports by default, but only if the destination URL's are tagged with the source/medium. If you don't have any URL tracking setup with your ads, you won't be able to tell the difference between traffic generated by the ad, and a direct/none source.
