My channel reporting identified an upward shift in my results for Natural and Direct.  This impacted my conversion.  There does not seem to be any obvious indicators and the channel managers are unable to explain any activity that would have impacted the site.  I think it is possible tracking issue as we recently had a site change, but that was after the spike.  Would an audit, be the obvious next steps? any suggestions would be great.

I would alayze the data in more detail starting with the hostname if the hostname is not yours then it is spam and can be filtered out.

Thanks for your response Brian I have investigated further and discovered it is Ghost Spam - hostname is (not set) in GA.

Yeah ghost spam is quite common I have yet to figure out what or how anyone profits from creating ghost spam but they must since they keep doing it.
