Understanding New Users in a Remarketing Campaign Report
I'm trying to understand the new users metric after creating a custom report. The setup is this:
- One report showing only visitors from remarketing campaign (filtered traffic from X campaign), with sessions, users, new users, transactions and revenue as metrics and campaign and ad content as dimensions.
The thing is, since the campaign traffic is only from visitors that already visited to the website in the past, I'm wondering why Analytics is showing new users for the selected time range (ie: past month of june)
As I see it, new users are created when one visitor access the website and a cookie is created, permanently. If the same user comes back and visits the website, analytics doesn't count it as a new user, instead it counts one user, right?
So, why i'm seeing new users in my report? New users are aproximately 40% of total users.
