URLs showing within Default Channel > Organic Search?

Hi Guys, is anyone able to answer this?, would be much appreciated.

Specific Report = Acquisition > All Traffic > Channels > Organic Search (Primary dimension is set KEYWORD)

No surprise to find 61% (not provided) but all other entries bar 2 are my site URLs, not organic keywords as you would expect?

Furthermore, I can see Organic clicks have been delivered via the SEO Queries report in Analytics.

Thanks, Neil

Hi Neil,

I'm not sure if it's related but your code contains

__gaTracker ( 'set' , 'forceSSL' , true );

which forces SSL on an non-SSL page. You might be removing that from your pages because there might be an issue with loosing the referrer with that.

Hi Neil,

I guess that probably someone in your Analytics account has been using some view filters for modifying the organic keywords into the landing-page URLs instead. This is kind of best practice to circumvent (or at least try to fight the blackbox) the not-provided issue.

Thanks Christoph, appreciated,

This would be a valid idea but the account only has a handful of filters, all related to IPs, Referral and Keyword Spam. Plus there are actually 2 organic terms showing in the report, but the majority continue to be URLs...

Then, do you actually see these URLs in SEO queries report or Google Search Console too?

Thanks again, the actual keywords are in the SEO queries report as expected.

Thank you Christoph, based on some searches this points towards the Yoast Analytics plugin, I'm going to investigate further and run some tests, will report back.

Update, so having removed (26/11) the Yoast Analytics plugin that forced SSL I haven't seen any further URL entries in the Organic Search report.

I can't be 100% this was the whole issue as traffic has dropped off a little plus the organic report remains at 90% not provided levels. (is that the norm these days?) That said I'd prefer not to see my URLs in the organic keyword report which now appears to be the case after removing the forced SSL.

Thanks for your support Christoph.

Hi Neil,

glad to hear! Whereas it's not absolutely clear what had happened ... ;-)

90% of not-provided keywords assuming about 10% search terms coming through (mostly brand terms) is absolutely standard these days.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem. A lot of keywords for organic traffic on my website are showing as website URLs. I have not implemented any forced SSL in my analytics code, its just plane and simple ecommerce tracking code.

And the interesting part is that the landing pages for these keywords (URLs) are completely different from actual URLs.

Can there be any other possible reason behind this (apart from forced ssl)?

Same problem is getting discussed on other online forums also, however no satisfactory resolution.
