Tracking Vanity URLs

Hi, Community!

So what's the best way to track vanity urls? I have a client who did a mail postcard campaign (so not online) and they want people to type in xyz.com/welcome which then redirects you to xyz.com/abc/def. They want to know the amount of users who typed in xyz.com/welcome. What's the best way to go about getting this?

Hi Scott,

One way is to just see traffic to /abc/def if it is only reachable with that vanity url (not indexed or similar).

Second way would be add utm tags to redirect so you would potentially have more in depth info available:
/welcome > /abc/def?utm_source=someSource...

When you do reporting just create a segment which will include sessions / users with LP /abc/def or source someSource.

Kind regards,
