Tieing together chart data and excel export numbers

I have a 5-year chart of Audience Overview:

Audience overview.PNG5-Year analysis by month

I then exported the chart to Excel.   The first few line look like this:

Excel data for Audience Analysis.PNGExcel Dataset 1

The month index I am guessing is the starting month figures, first months, and so on.   However, I can not reconcile the month index 0,1, etc to the beginning chart numbers.

I also do not understand the meaning of the Date Range column (B).

Where can I go to get an explanation for these figures?

Your have 2 data sets intertwined, one for each date range you are showing -- the Date Range is the data set label.  Both data sets start at month 0000 and increment. That way they can share the same graph because they share the same X-axis.

Your date range starts on the last day of a month, so you complicate things unnecessarily...if you started on Mar.1st, then month 0000 would be March.
