Social Referrals to a page that isn't accessible!

I am getting social referral traffic to a page that is not 'accessible'.

The referral traffic is coming from Facebook and Twitter shortlinks. The page is actually a subdomain that is not accessible via a click-through on any page...so how is this happening? The page is also not technically live to the public - while you can access it if you know the URL, we haven't made the URL known to the public yet.

Hi Geri, how are things?

One possible scenario is that address is just a redirect domain, that does not have content nor is accessible, but redirect users to your URL. This may cause them to appear as Referral.

Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for the response. The shortlinks actually take the user to a blog post on our regular domain (not the subdomain). The blog post does not have a click through link to the subdomain (yet).
