Social Plugins: what's the "socialNetwork" network?

Hello I'm totally new to analytics and I'm in the process of tracking social media interactions with the share buttons on my website.

I have managed to get analytics to show some information on sharing buttons for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, however, in my reports panel I keep seeing this other social network just called "socialNetwork".

Capture d’écran 2016-12-21 à 12.11.36.pngI have no idea what the first entry is

This is the code I'm using to track the shares, my website runs on a WordPress install so that's why there's a mix of Javascript and PHP:

(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
                  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
                  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
                  })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

                  <?php echo (isset($options['anonymizeip']) && $options['anonymizeip']) ?  "ga('create','$id', '$domain', {anonymizeIp: true});" : "ga('create','$id', '$domain');";?>
                  ga('send', 'pageview');
                  ga('send', {
                      hitType: 'social',
                      socialNetwork: 'Facebook',
                      socialAction: 'share',
                      socialTarget: '<?php echo "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];?>'
                    });
                  ga('send', {
                      hitType: 'social',
                      socialNetwork: 'Twitter',
                      socialAction: 'tweet',
                      socialTarget: '<?php echo "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];?>'
                    });
                  ga('send', {
                      hitType: 'social',
                      socialNetwork: 'LinkedIn',
                      socialAction: 'share',
                      socialTarget: '<?php echo "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];?>'
                    });
                  ga('send', {
                      hitType: 'social',
                      socialNetwork: 'Google+',
                      socialAction: 'share',
                      socialTarget: '<?php echo "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];?>'
                    });
                }

One other thing I've noticed is that since my website isn't running the official google plus button the method I'm trying to use doesn't seem to be working to track the google plus shares, am I doing something wrong? or google plus interactions just straight up can't be tracked by any means other than by using the official button code?

Hi Miguel,

G+ is tracked by default.  You shouldn't need to code for it.

Hey Miguel,

I imagine you're passing that in somewhere.. perhaps a variable is not getting set.  Not sure and not a developer Smiley Sad
