Seeing page sessions from a different site

Hi there,

I am seeing page results for a another property I manage. I have checked both sites to ensure that I haven't mixed up the GTM codes, and everything appears to check out, yet when looking at stats for www.mywebsiteA.com I am seeing results for www.mywebsiteB.com.

The only thing I can think of is that the previous site manager hosted the analytics code on a local machine - which would then mean that there are two versions of the code running for mywebsiteB.com. Aside from that, I can't think of another reason why I'd be seeing results from a different property.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Doug

Hi Doug,

I recommend you to install one or two debugger tools to check out what's happening (which tags are fired / UA scripts are loaded).

Tag Assistant
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?h...

or

GA Debugger
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-analytics-debugger/jnkmfdileelhofjcijamephohjechhna...

If there are two GA codes on one site, you need to make sure only the right one is implemented.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Hi Paul
Thanks for the info, I installed both, but I'm not seeing any conflicts (although the Tag Assistant found some other funny stuff for me Smiley Happy )
I might not be reading the js console properly, but it doesn't appear that any conflicts are GA related.

Thanks again,
Doug

Hi Doug,

Good to hear you found some stuff, but unfortunately could solve the problem yet.

Although it won't solve the actually problem, it might be an option to get the data right:
Set up an "include filter" for the http://www.mywebsitea.com/ website (include on "mywebsitea.com") -> this to only include visits on that domain.

From here I can't help you further on this.

Thanks,
Paul

It looks like I'm only seeing traffic on the erroneous pages when viewing the Real Time dashboard - when I look at Behaviour>Site Content>All Pages or Landing Pages, the traffic isn't recorded. Which is good, but still confusing.

Thanks again for your help Paul
