Remove city and region information from reports

We use Google Analytics for a desktop application using the Measurement Protocol. Because the application has a limited number of users in certain cities we have a privacy requirement to remove city and region information from reports and only keep country information. There should be no way of identifying the city or region information of users but only country information is acceptable.

Is there a way to configure Google Analytics to only capture the country information from an IP address but not the city or region?

You can have your application use the geographical override option, but you would have to tell it which country geoid to use.
